| Founded in 1941 by ski pioneer Ed Taylor
and his wife Jo,
the Alpine Sport Shop was purchased in 1964
by Thurlow and Dorothy Woodcock and is now run by their
daughter Cathy and her husband Jack Hay.
Thurlow designed and constructed the
Alpine Sport Shop building
in 1969 to create the ski lodge atmosphere and ambiance,
with a massive stone fireplace and spacious, unique
departments for alpine skis and boots, cross country
equipment, men's, ladies' and children's winter fashions. A
snowboard department was added in 1982 and given
it's own identity - Al's Snowboards, in 1994.
Experienced , factory-trained ski technicians will tune
your skis and boards to "like-new" condition using the latest Wintersteiger ski and snowboard tuning machines and stone
grinder. Quick turnaround time ensures you will have your
equipment ready when you need it. Our mechanics are
certified to service all brands of ski bindings.
The most important component of pleasurable skiing is a
good fitting ski boots.
The Alpine Sport Shop is staffed
with knowledgeable and caring boot fitters---craftsmen at
providing the necessary "comfortable confinement. From the
basics of proper sizing and adjusting to advanced principles
of boot stretching, alignment, custom fitting and footbeds,
the masterful fitters at Alpine want to make your feet
happy!
At Alpine everyone is passionate about winter snow
sports----alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and cross
country skiing. We consider it our mission to spread the joy
and excitement of participating in these sports. We want
your shopping experience to be fun, informative and
pleasurable.
The new "shaped" skis were developed to make skiing more
fun for you. They do that, and more --- they are easier to
turn, yet stable; they hold great on firm snow, yet float
over soft snow; they carve more precise turns on the groomed
trails, and they tame the variable conditions "off piste."
With the new designs, selecting and sizing the right model
has become even more important, and the experts at Alpine
know their skis.
When it comes to "fashions," skiers and snowboarders need
function, fit and style to enjoy their days on the slopes,
and the Alpine Sport Shop has the most extensive selection
of skiwear in upstate New York. Alpine has it all! For men,
women and children, Alpine's range of prices and styles will
please any winter sports enthusiast.
If you are looking for gear to enjoy the winter more
"quietly,"
the Alpine Sport Shop has a great selection of cross
country skis.
From the local park or golf course to the high
peaks of the Adirondacks, the experts at Alpine can help you
get outfitted for whatever excursion you are planning.
